The best advice I ever got was that knowledge is power and to keep reading. Reading is a conversation. All the books talk. But a good book listens as well.

It is the summer holidays, children are free from school although many of us have to work and some also have summer holidays as well. There is so much to do during the summer holidays, staying at home is certainly not an option because in recent weeks the sun looks longer than we are used to in Holland. Which means that every day we can do something fun with children or something for yourself. As a mother, we have enough daily tasks that need to be done, so we often forget to enjoy the days off and have a time for yourself. Although that can sometimes be very difficult to do, it does not have to be that way, summer is all about having fun and enjoying the long days and especially with family and friends who also have time to get together.

Who I am, what I am, is the culmination of a lifetime of reading, a lifetime of stories. And there are still so many more books to read. I’m a work in progress. The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest minds of past centuries.

Time has always been fun, I have seen pictures and then I read that oh, I thought it was super fun when I was a teenager, I gave all my pocket money to magazines so much fun and I bought one or two of them every week. But books was a whole different story, although I now have a great love of books, I love reading brewing me far from my own reality. When I was a child I did not like reading, I hated reading, especially when I was reading a big book, the idea that I had to read it, I found out. But on a Christmas night, I received a series of books from my foster parents as a gift. And a world opened up to me from the moment I started reading, my love for books arose. I love to read, I get knowledge from every book I read, if I have questions for a specific subject, then I look for a book about it so that I can know it.

Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know. The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

Because of my love for books, I do not want to encourage anyone in my surroundings to read, not only do you gain knowledge but it improves your vocabulary and you will master the language better. I like to buy my own books so that I can read them often and I love to collect books hahaha. But the library is definitely my second store if I want a book then I am there to find regular and I do not go alone I like to bring my son because I want him to develop a love for books for his own growth development. I love when he comes to foresee me from a book that he has chosen from the library, and also during this summer holiday we do not leave the house without any book in our bags, so he finally gets silent it is a lovely moment. hahaha.

A room without books is like a body without a soul. I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.

Here are my summer must-read books for this summer vacation!

  1. Mindgym, sportschool voor je geest

Mijn niet zo perfecte leven

You know you’ve read a good book,
when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend. In the end, we’ll all become stories.

I hope you like it.  Have a beautiful day and may God bless you above all your  expectations <3
– HERCHAPTER – By Custodia Chineva-
