A while back I was traveling, as usual, when I’m having a long trip without my son I always take a book and magazine on the road to read. While I was sitting there minding my own business and reading my book. Very unconsciously, my curious ear began to hear a conversation that had nothing to do with me. As I sat there doing my best not to listen to the conversation and focus on the book I was reading. It was just impossible, because the conversation had taken my full attention away from the book, and I was no longer interested in the book I was reading. But I could not stop feeling like I was invalidating a private conversation and somehow I had guilty feelings. I don’t know how but I automatically, I stopped reading and I started listening to a very interesting conversation they were having. While they were talking, I was hoping we could stop at the same station because I was so intrigued by the conversation they were having that I did not want them to stop. As the trip extended the start conversation with a new subject about, a positive mindset.
Adopting a really positive attitude can work wonders to adding years to your life, a spring in your step, a sparkle in your eye, and all of that.
One of them told a story about how her point of view changed since she starts reading a book, about how to train your mind to be positive. She was telling her friend that she had to learn how to have a positive mindset and how she had a hard time about being positive because it wasn’t a custom of her. Because she always lived her life as it is and she never saw it different. But the more she was reading that book, she unconsciously began to adjust things she was reading in her daily life. As I was sitting there listening to they a lovely conversation I was hoping she would say the title of the book she was talking about before they step out the train. As I predicted, they went away and she never says the title of the book and I didn’t want to be rude, so I did not have the guts to ask.
You have no choices about how you lose, but you do have a choice about how you come back and prepare to win again.
You can imagine how disappointed I was with myself, for not asking about the title of the book she was talking about :). But she put me thinking about my own positive mentality, how positive am I? And how can I train my mind to be positive? From the day I heard this conversation on the train, I never stop to think about it. But I did not have this book to train my mind so I had to do something different so I could train my mind to be more positive. So I started to make a positive wall of quotes. I began to notice that the more I focused on positive things the more I started to see things in a very different way. I started to be more optimistic, I was doing my best to keep my mind positive, I was having some difficulties being positive all the time. I must say that it is not an easy way to live because on a daily basis it is not as easy as it seems. I start to understand what she meant when she said ” she had to learn how to have a positive mindset and at the start, she had a hard time about being positive because it wasn’t a custom of her. Because she always lived life as it is and she never saw it different”
If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort, eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges.
Although I find it hard to stay positive all the time. I made a choice to continue training my mind in having a positive mindset. Step by step, I’m learning about training my mind to have a positive mindset, I’ve created a positive wall in my home where I hang all my quote with a positive mindset. This helps me train my mind to maintain a positive mindset. It may sound cliché, but it helps and even my son started to make his positive wall in his room as well. It has been so fun doing it and my wall is looking very Pinterest and fashionable. The reason I wrote this blog is also to say that I have found the book and it is from a Dutch writer and the book is called MIND GYM.
